Guest guest Posted July 7, 2003 Report Share Posted July 7, 2003 Okra Corn Bread 1 cup cornmeal 2/3 cup flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon baking powder 1 1/2 cups sweet milk 1 tablespoon sugar 1/2 cup chopped onion 1 cup okra -- thinly sliced 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1 egg -- beaten 1/4 cup cooking oil Directions: Mix all ingredients together, except the oil Pour oil into a 10 or 12-inch iron skillet or 9x13x2-inch baking pan. Heat pan until grease is hot. Pour in cornbread mixture and bake in preheated 450 F. oven.
