Guest guest
I spent some fruitless time yesterday searching for sites that had something like gourmet vegetarian. I'd like to find recipes that were more than the usual everyday recipes and format them for the group. I tried the keyword vegetarian with - restaurant, recipe, gourmet and chef with no noticable luck. Anyone have any ideas? Melody
Guest guest
More info on my search for Gourmet Vegetarian. I have requested all of the Deberoh Madison books from my libray and will hand type (or figure out my OCR) recipes from her truely wonderful books. That will take time though. I guess I'm looking for some really inovative recipes that are vegetarian. I was hoping that there was something fresh online. Formating to MC can be easer. My inspiration for this topic is a restaurant in my area (Spokane, WA) called " Mizumas. " It is so wonderful. The food is truly gourmet. My familey went to dinner not knowing exactly what to expect and spent litereally 5 hours eating (and talking.) A memorable experiance. They used specialty gourmet ingredients (cheeses, nuts, herbs, imported fruits, ect) along with very fresh vegetables. Melody
Guest guest
Melody- I understand a great gourmet veg cookbook is the Millennium Cookbook (pricey though). It is named for a veg restaurant in San Francisco. I haven't seen it, but on VegList people rave about it. It is on my " to get " list... :-) Sharon from CA (-: PS. If anyone has this book, please, please post some recipes. Thankx.

Guest guest
Melody and friends, Just sipping my first cup o coffee, rubbing my eyes. You looking for gourmet veg cookbook, eh? I don't know any in Spokane, but I know of one restaurant that is pretty innovative and seems to lean lots towards vegetarian; has a new cookbook and the place is in Seattle area. (The owner used to be one of the owners of Streamliner Diner (they all sold to new owners in 91), but this new place is much more gourmet -- well, by my standards anyway Shittake-Orange Blossom Soup is adventerous.) Name of cookbook? Kingston Hotel Cafe Cookbook. I think there are no beef recipes, 2 chicken, quite a few seafood, but most of the others appear to be vegetarian and lots of unusual combinations. Samples: Curried Oyster Scramble iwth Papaya-Mango Salsa Thai Spiced Snow Pea and Prawn Soup w/ Red Rice Chilled Peach Soup w/ Gingerroot and White Wine Lemony Sorrel and Spinach Sauce Potato, Sorrel, and Nettle soup Avocado-Pumpkin Seed Salsa Spicy Ancho Chile and Fresh Mozzarella Tamales Potato-Tarragon Pancakes Fettuccine w/ walnuts, asiago and spinach Shakow Quince Soup Comice Pear and Montrachet Omelet Pear-Ginger Soup Summer Ricotta Ravioli in Curried Peach Sauce Mexican Fish Cakes w/ Avocado-Pumpkin Seed Salsa Angel Hair Pasta w/Leeks, Asparagus, and Portobello Mushrooms Braided Salmon and Halibut with Brandied Wild Blackberry Sauce Four Mushroom Risotto Gresh Soba noodles w/ Burdock Root, Ginger and Wild Greens Curred Green Apple Soup w/ Coriander and Yogurt Roasted Apple and Ginger Bisque Lemony Polenta w/ Mascarpone and Berries Split Soup of Beet-Lemon and Butternut-Orange Lentil, Swiss Chard and Lemon Soup Summer Strawberry Salsa Holiday Scramble w/ Persimmon and Spinach Fresh Raspberry Omelet w/ Orange Blossom Cream Cheese Fresh Fig and Montrachet Omelet w/Fig Puree How's that? Will keep my eyes open.... Now, I need somemore coffee. Brenda Adams
Guest guest
Melody: I just thought of another website for " gourmet vegetarian " recipes. They are definitely not all vegetarian, but they do have a good selection (put in " vegetarian " , " meatless " and other things in the search feature): http://epicurious.com/ These are recipes from Gourmet, Bon Appetit, etc. Karen
