Hi all,

 

This recipe was in my 'stuff'. I don't know if I've posted it ever before or

not. We love slaws and such at our house. My mother-in-law seems to have some

special nack for making them and other quickie veg salads...but she never

remembers what she put in em! (: Doesn't this look good? Looks like it might

have some BANG to it. Yum. :)

Sweet And Sour Slaw (Brigtsen's)

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

1/4 cup unseasoned rice vinegar

1/4 cup granny smith apple -- peeled, grated

1 teaspoon granulated white sugar

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon tabasco sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 cups red cabbage -- very thinly sliced

2 cups napa cabbage -- very thinly sliced

OR green cabbage

1/3 cup carrot -- peeled, grated

1/3 cup roasted unsalted peanuts

1/4 cup red onion -- julienned

1/4 cup red bell pepper -- julienned

1/4 cup yellow bell pepper -- julienned

1/3 cup chives -- thinly sliced

OR green onions

 

In a mixing bowl, add the vinegar, apple, sugar, soy sauce, salt and Tabasco.

Blend well with a wire whisk. Slowly add the sesame oil in a thin stream,

whisking constantly. Add the remaining ingredients and blend well for 3-4

minutes. Refrigerate for one hour, stirring occasionally, before serving.
