Guest guest Posted May 5, 1999 Report Share Posted May 5, 1999 * Exported from MasterCook * Vegetable " Beef " Stew Recipe By : Serving Size : 8 Preparation Time :0:15 Categories : Soups & Stews Vegan Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 raw potatoes -- cubed 4 carrots -- sliced 2 stalks celery -- sliced thin 2 packets G. Washington Broth mix (dark brown) 2 tablespoons canola oil or water or broth 1 large onion -- coarsely chopped 1 20 oz can Worthington Vegetable Steaks -- cubed 3 tablespoons flour 1 cup water 1 teaspoon garlic powder 3 tablespoons light soy sauce 2 teaspoons Vegex seasoning paste -- (optional) 1 cup frozen green peas *or* green beans In an 8-quart saucepan, cook potatoes, carrots, and celery in enough water to just cover all the vegetables. Stir in the G. Washington Broth mix. Cook just until tender. Do not drain. Saute onions and Vegetables Steaks in oil or water or broth until lightly browned. Sprinkle with flour. Mix together 1 cup of water, garlic powder, soy sauce, and Vegex. Pour over Vegetable Steaks and onions. Stir until the flour is dissolved. Add ths mixture to the cooked vegetables in the large saucepan. Add peas or green beans and simmer until stew is thickened.
