Guest guest
YES, You can grind flax seeds in a " propeller " type coffee grinder, but not a mill that passes the coffee through blades like a grain mill does. (well, if you could take it apart to clean in there I guess you could do that too!) It is very important to 'clean up' after grinding the flax. The oils released from flax seed are the best veg- omega oils. but they go rancid very quickly! I store the unground flax in the freezer, and only grind the amount I am using at this meal. Some of the ground flax products are 'stabilized' but once they are opened, they should be stored in the freezer. I have a coffee mill I use just for coffee, and a propeller grinder for spices, flax, nuts and other stuff. Found it a Sears for $11. Keep your eyes open for a good deal!
