Guest guest Posted June 27, 1999 Report Share Posted June 27, 1999 * Exported from MasterCook * Spicy Hoisin-Peanut Sauce Recipe By : Regina's Vegetarian Table Serving Size : 2 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Appetizer Sauce Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 cup hoisin sauce 2/3 cup water 1/4 cup rice vinegar 1/3 cup yellow onion -- finely minced garnishes 1 tablespoon ground chili paste 1 tablespoon peanuts -- chopped Place hoisin sauce, water, vinegar and pureed onions in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let simmer until sauce is thickened just enough to coat a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Add a little water if it's too thick. Set aside to cool. But I've found that when embellished with garlic, chilies and ginger, it's a great accompaniment to grilled fish, chicken and beef. Note that the saltiness of hoisin sauce can vary so adjust the seasonings accordingly.
