Guest guest Posted August 24, 1999 Report Share Posted August 24, 1999 What type of vegetarian are you? lacto/ovo, though I do my best to avoid eggs, and eat VERY little dairy unless they are in a recipe or prepared food I bought How old were you when you became a vegetarian? 27 How old are you now? 29 What was your main reason for becoming vegetarian? health Are you an animal rights activist? no, but it is an added benefit to being veg that I'm saving a few lives -- I do love animals Where do you live? Camas, WA (near Portland, OR) Is anyone else in your family a vegetarian? My wife tries, but occ. gives in to meat. My son is semi-veg (he's 6). No one else though How many vegetarian friends do you have? 0 Do you try to eat organic? if I can afford it Are your friends and family supportive of your vegetarianism? Mostly yes. Some think I'm nuts, but almost all try to respect my decision, and most learn a lot about healthier and friendlier eating from me Do you wear leather or other animal products? Not really, but there may be some slipped into my shoes for sure What's your favorite vegetarian/vegan cookbook? Hmmmmm.....1,000 Vegetarian Recipes and The Essential Vegetarian probably the 2 I use the most website? too many to list Veggie burger? I love Vegan Boca's, and Morningstar Farms veggie dog? Morningstar Farms, hands down (includes the Corn Dog) frozen entree? don't buy many Brand? Amy's is good mail order catalog? none Store? Nature's restaurant? depends on what for -- we have Pizzicato Pizza that has vegan pizza, but many others nearby that are good too Milk alternative? Westbrae Fat Free Enriched Soy cheese alternative? none egg substitute? none Entree? I love food in general, so it just depends on the day dessert? anything chocolate candy? ditto side dish? too hard to choose just one breakfast? fruit book/guide? none Magazine? Don't get them anymore, but Veg. Times was good mailing list? no favorite here either beverage? water or Orange Juice, though my guilty pleasures are Cherry Coke and Amaretto Sours meat alternative? TVP -- usu. Morningstar Farms crumbles way to prepare tofu? no real preference, though deep fried is different way to prepare tempeh? crumbled, in tacos way to prepare seitan? stir-fried w/ lots of veggies other comments: Thanks for asking, and thanks to all on the list for your tolerance so far!
