Guest guest
I just saw this on one of my other lists and thought it would answer some questions you might have about the patch: Dear MasterCook Users, As many of you have found out, there are a few issues with the MasterCook 5.03 patch. We currently have a new patch in the QA process to alleviate the issues that you have discovered. Currently, there are some work arounds for the users that have already downloaded the patch. The new patch will be available by tomorrow noon or earlier. The work arounds came from an email from Nadeem Cokar. (thanks for the posting) Problem 1: The patch starts to install, and then stops when updating " Betty Crocker Design.MCD " , or perhaps another .MCD file. Solution 1: The original MCD files are on the CD. The solution is to copy the .MCD files from the " System\Tools " folder into your local Sierra\MasterCook 5\MC Tools folder (or wherever the MC Tools folder lies on your machine). You can also do a fresh install and apply the patch directly. There are a few issues with just copying files off the CD directly. The files will be marked as READ ONLY causing problems with MasterCook. The solution for this is you can select the files on your hard drive and change the attributes to non-read only by clicking properties and unchecking READ ONLY. Problem 2: The patch stops on the MASTERCOOK.INI file. This file is generated when you run MC for the first time, and is modified when you use the program. You will NOT FIND IT ON THE CD. Solution 2: Delete the MASTERCOOK.INI file from the folder it is in (Sierra\MasterCook 5\Programs) and re-run the program. You have to re-run the program to generate a " fresh " .INI file. Now, try the patch again and it should install. I apologize for the problems.
