Catalan Tomato Bread

4 ripe tomatoes -- cut in half

4 cloves garlic -- cut in half

8 slices country style bread -- cut 1/2 inch thick

extra virgin olive oil

kosher salt

freshly ground black pepper

 

Preheat the grill to medium high and prepare it for direct grilling. Place a

half tomato and half garlic clove on each serving plate. Arrange the bread

slices on the hot grate and grill until nicely browned - 2-4 minutes per side.

Place a piece of grilled bread on each plate. To eat, rub a bread slice with

cut garlic then with cut tomato. Drizzle each slice with oil and sprinkle with

salt and pepper. Eat immediately.
