Guest guest Posted November 10, 1999 Report Share Posted November 10, 1999 * Exported from MasterCook * Mushroom Kuzu Sauce Recipe By :The Complete Whole Grain Cookbook by Aveline Kushi and Wendy Esko Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 2 cups mushrooms -- sliced thin 1/2 cup onion -- diced 3 cups water 1 strip kombu, 2 inches long 4 teaspoons kuzu -- diluted 4 1/2 teaspoons tamari soy sauce Place the water, onion, kombu, and mushrooms in a saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce the flame to medium-low and simmer for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove the kombu and set aside. Add the kuzu, stirring constantly to prevent lumping, until the sauce is thick and translucent. Season with soy sauce. Pour the sauce over the stuffed shells, cover, and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove the cover and bake 5 more minutes.
