Guest guest Posted December 11, 1999 Report Share Posted December 11, 1999 * Exported from MasterCook * Holiday Spiced Nuts Recipe By : Published in Oregonian, author not listed Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Christmas Snacks Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 egg white 1 teaspoon water 1 can salted mixed nuts -- (12 ounce) 1 cup granulated sugar 2 tablespoons apple or pumpkin pie spice -- see note Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Butter a 15-by-10-by-1-inch jelly roll pan; set aside. In a medium bowl lightly beat egg white with water; stir in nuts until coated. In another bowl combine sugar and apple or pumpkin pie spice. Using a slotted spoon place nuts in sugar and spice mix; stir until well-coated. Place in a single layer on prepared pan. Bake until dry, 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally; cool in pan; store at room temperature in a tightly covered container. Note: Substitute 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger, 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg and 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves. Makes 4 1/2 cups.
