Garlic Bread Crumbs

2 slices whole wheat or white bread -- cubed

1 teaspoon garlic chips or dehydrated garlic flakes

(preferred) or garlic powder (see Note)

 

Preheat oven to 350F.

Arrange Bread cubes in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 15

minutes, oor until crisp and medium brown in color. Process along with the

garlic chips or flakes to a coarse powder in a blender or food processor.

NOTES : An alternative to using dried garlic is to rub the bread cubes, after

they have been baked 10 minutes, with the cut end of half a garlic clove.

ENHANCING STOREBOUGHT PLAIN BREAD CRUMBS: Toast the crumbs by placing on an

ungreased skillet over low heat until heated through, stirring often. Grind the

garlic chips or flakes to a powder as above and mix with the crumbs.
