Michelle Adams Club Director L Avery <averyl Mon, 04 Dec 2000 10:02:04 -0800 info dogs of korea Dear Sir: On December 8th the President of Korea will be in Oslo Norway and will be attending a two hour concert in which you will be preforming. I am asking that you read this e-mail, and then make an informed choice about what is happening in his country. I am trying to bring to the worlds attention the plight of the cats and dogs of korea. I am asking all who will listen to lend their voices in the hopes of educating the people everywhere of the butchery that is carried on there yearly. These unfortunate creatures are hung and beaten before being killed in the most horrific fashion. Some are electrocuted through their tongues, mother cats and kittens are put into pressure cookers alive to be " juiced " others are skinned alive, or put into sacks and beaten against the ground, all in the name of a mans virility. 6.484 stores sell these illegal products, and yearly they process 8.428 tons to be made into dog soup, and another 96.600 tons are made in the korean tonic kaesoju(my spelling). If you average a dog out to 60 pounds each it works out to the equilivant of 1,750.466 dogs that are slaughtered yearly. Thirty percent of these dogs were family pets stolen from loving families, to suffer this cruel fate. None of these tonics has any basis as being of any benefit, but because of the superstitious nature it is sold as a cure-all. These animals are slaughtered under horrific conditions, and the korean government who passed a law in 1984 making the animal trade illegal will not uphold their own laws. Please lend your ears and heart to this campaign, and help bring about an end to their suffering.
