Background:

Bear-baiting is an event held in Pakistan in which a toothless,

tethered bear is forced to defend against aggressive dogs. It is

estimated that about 50 bears are attacked every year in this form of

" entertainment " . The events occur between November and April each year.

SAMPLE LETTER

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am contacting you regarding the Pakistan government's failure to put

an end to the barbaric practice of bear baiting. Bear-baiting is

primitive, practically useless and unquestionably gory. It is

impossible to imagine how anyone could be entertained by the sight of a

tethered, toothless and defenceless bear being attacked by aggressive

dogs. I urge you to immediately put an end to this extremely cruel

practice. If the government of Pakistan still fails to act to end bear

baiting, I will boycott all Pakistani goods, cancel visits to Pakistan

and urge my friends and relatives to do the same.

Sincerely,
