Guest guest
Want to write to this newspaper editor to discourage allowing ads for animal parts? Are there groups actively working on discouraging trade in vietnam? I would say that the lion in question is lucky that he is about to be released from his hell of captivity. The downside is of course that he will be replaced by a younger lion who faces a life time of it. Vietnam is a very difficult country for foreigners to work in. If you go to the very bottom of the page at http://www.aapn.org/zoopage3.html , to the Vietnam section, you will see a brief account of my struggle with the zoo - and you can follow the link at the bottom to my photos of the zoo. At that time I was working on behalf of the Born Free Foundation - http://www.bornfree.org.uk/ Animals Asia Foundation is currently working in Vietnam on the bile bear issue - http://www.animalsasia.org/ - it is also interested in the other animal issues there but its resources are fully stretched at the moment. A good organisation is the Asian Conservation Awareness Programme - http://www.jackiewild.com/ I would be very interested to hear other people's information and ideas on Vietnamese animal issues. WWF has had a presence in Vietnam for many years - I wonder what they have achieved? John.
