Koreans and dogs....

This whole 'Eating Dogs' issue has been weighing very heavily on my mind as I

delight in the company of my 5 dogs over this holiday season.

The whole thing horrifies me and depresses me deeply yet I can't help thinking

that we are never going to stop the Koreans eating Dog after all....

Trying to call for the abolishment of it just seems to annoy them and make many

of them even more determined?

I think it would just go underground and remain just as cruel - I think maybe

better for the dogs would be to legalize it and have much stricter controls over

the conditions they are kept in while alive (free range) and very strict laws on

how to slaughter them?

Would it be adhered to though?

We do not believe that the proposed legalisation of dogmeat in Korea would

end the suffering of these animals. In fact, we consider it more likely that

the facade of respectability that such a law would give to the dog butchers

would increase the suffering. We are all aware of the belief that the more a

dog suffers, the more " potent " its meat. Legalisation in Korea would merely

lead to more back-street butchers who would try to gain a reputation for the

quality of their own particular wares.........

The legalisation of dogmeat would allow the many buisnessmen that have long

awaited the opportunity to start up commercial processing factories to do

so, leading to a huge demand and increase for more dog breeding farms,

dogeating would increase enormously with many, many more millions of dogs

being butchered, the numbers would be to vast for strict controls, I dont

see how could it be adhered to?
