Protection area in the works

A protection project for wild animals and plants is to be launched in

Central China's Hunan Province to turn the province into a " paradise " for

wild animals and plants in the next 10 years.

An official from the provincial forestry bureau said they aim to enlarge or

build 100 nature reserves by 2010. The project will also include protection

of wetlands and will cover 1.3 million hectares. A complete monitoring

network for wild animals and the wetlands will be established on completion

of the project.
