Hi All,

This article raises an interesting point. Animals should have the right to

legal representation.

I wonder what would happen if pigs destined for the slaughter house or

animals

imprisoned in zoos were given the right to legal representation? Perhaps it

might be the start of a vegetarian world and a more compassionate world.

Imagine a class action by the animal

nations against the human race for destruction of animals and the

environment and global

warming.

Kind regards,

Marguerite

Dog loses fight for a lawyer

Agence France-Presse

24mar02

METZ, France: A Rottweiler dog, condemned to be destroyed for being in a

public place without a leash or a muzzle, has been refused legal

representation at an administrative tribunal in the French city of

Strasbourg.

Lawyer Nadia Weiler-Strasser had requested an urgent hearing yesterday on

behalf of the dog's owner and the dog itself, saying the dog, called Kaya,

had the right to legal representation.

She argued that in the Middle Ages dogs were given the same legal status as

human beings.

The application was rejected by the tribunal on the grounds of

inadmissibility.

The court also found that the order to destroy Kaya was not in breach of the

owner's rights.

It is indeed an interesting point and one that is fundamental to animal

rights.

I would recommend this website:
