Guest guest
Hi All, In Australia, the Victorian State government is trialling a bounty offer of $10 a tail for fox tails during July to September of this year. This will probably encourage extreme cruelty to foxes. Foxes are a most misunderstood animal. They do not breed uncontrollably and in fact breed least when there is little food around. They are also territorial. Also re hunting in Australia, for those who wish to help stop the Game Bill in NSW Australia, if you have not already written to complain about the Bill, please write now since time is running out and the Government has been waiting for the controversy to die down to push this cruel hunting bill through. Visit http://www.iinet.net.au/~rabbit/gamebill.htm to send a letter of condemnation about the legalising of hunting with dogs etc in Australia. Remember, Scotland has banned the hunting of foxes with dogs and if they can do this so can we. Here is the latest update from the Britain where hunting foxes with packs of dogs is considered a " sport " and foxes are often torn apart alive by dogs or dug out and allowed to be ripped aparty by the dogs by these " civilised " Brits in the name of entertainment. Forward from the League Against Cruel Sports in the UK.. Anglia TV special report: " The fox on the run " Cover Story strand Wednesday 12 June at 10.50 pm www.angliatv.com EAST ANGLIA HUNTERS DENY CLAIMS MADE IN SECRET FOX FILM Hunting people from the East of England and anti-blood sports activists clash in an Anglia TV Cover Story documentary tonight (Wed) that examines new allegations of malpractice within foxhunting, and talks to people whose lives would be ruined by the Parliamentary moves to outlaw it. Secret filming by the League Against Cruel Sports claims to show artificial earths - manmade fox shelters - in a wood near Bury St Edmunds which is hunted by the Suffolk Hunt. Anti-hunt groups say artificial earths are part of the practice of breeding foxes for hunting, something which is against the rules if the Master of Foxhounds Association. But hunts have consistently denied they breed foxes. Investigator Mike Huskisson says the League discovered three earths with concrete pipes leading to denning chambers in Thorpe Wood. " We've not found that many in a single wood before. " And Phyllis Campbell-McRae of the International Fund for Animal Welfare says evidence that foxes are being encouraged to breed " shoots a hole through the argument " that they need to be hunted as pests. But the Suffolk Hunt, which uses the land, tells the programme the earths are old and disused. And Darren Hughes of the Countryside Alliance claims the concrete pipes are associated with military activity in the area. Cameras go out with the Fitzwilliam Hunt in Cambridgeshire and film their supporters clashing with sabboteurs. Hunt master George Bowyer says: " All they are trying to do is wind us up a bit. We're very careful not to react because that's what they want us to do. So we just ignore them and carry on. " Also in the programme, ITN's political correspondent John Sergeant says many Labour MPs regard a foxhunting ban as a personal mission. " A lot of Labour MPs say 'I may not have done a lot in my time as an MP, but one thing I can be really sure I want to do is to ban foxhunting,' " Stephen Hill, a farrier from Great Gidding, says a ban would cut his work by 30% and Caroline Littler, who runs a nearby livery yard, says: " It'll be a disaster. I could lose my job and the people I employ will lose their jobs. " Kennelman Gary Edwards, an ex-Royal Marine, blames Tony Blair personally for the threat to his livelihood. " He's ruining my life - or trying to. " ---------- ----
