GETAWAY AND BULLFIGHTING

 

On the Nine Network's 'Getaway' travel program, their most

recent show had a report from Catriona Rowntree about Madrid.

According to her everyone told

her she 'had' to go to the 'Plaza de Toros' to see the bullfights.

In fact, the Getaway website says in part:

 

" If you feel a trip to Spain is incomplete

without attending a bullfight, you should have no trouble finding one on

summer weekends. "

Should they use their program to promote bullfighting? They will probably

say " it's part of the local culture and our program does not pass judgement

on local customs etc etc.... "

 

But it is the tourist dollar that keeps the bullfights going! Their program

therefore, has promote the cruellest of cruel activities...

ANIMALS IN PET SHOPS

 

Companion animals are NOT a commodity. They are a joy and a privilege and a

life commitment. While thousands upon thousands of healthy animals are

killed in shelters because no home can be found, it is a disgrace that the

deliberate commercial breeding of companion animals is legal and that

retail stores are permitted to make a living out of selling animals. If you

are

able to offer a loving home to a dog or cat or other companion, ALWAYS get

in touch with your local pound or shelter and giving a loving friend a

second go at life.

 

In the US, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are

campaigning with the same message:

 

SEE/HEAR CHARLIZE THERON EXPOSE PETSHOP INDUSTRY!

 

Film star Charlize Theron narrates PETA's undercover investigation of a

puppy mill - the expose that premiered on USA's Dateline program. Now the

star wants pet shops out of local malls, in fact, she sent a copy of the

video to mall managers across the country, along with a letter urging them

to dump pet shops.
