Guest guest
Dear friends of the animals, Recently I sent an article about the " hanging of the dogs " tradition here in Spain. I would like to give you some information about a friend of mine, Mo Swatek, a lady from Switzerland, also living in Spain. She, and many other hard working dog lovers, have done so much great work to save a lot of these poor dogs. Check out Mo's website. She also has a petition going. http://www.dogs-in-spain.org Her site will give you a lot of information about how hunters treat their dogs after the hunting season. It is very cruel and unfortunately you will see shocking pictures of these poor dogs which have died a very slow and painful death, just because of " tradition " . It just makes no sense at all. These hunters are beasts, not grateful at all towards their faithful companions who stood by them. Here are some more sites you could visit: http://www.galgos.at.tf (a page done by Mo Swatek with victims of hanging from last year and the skeletons are still there today!!!) www.evolucion.at.tf <http://www.evolucion.at.tf> , www.protectora-caceres.at.tf <http://www.protectora-caceres.at.tf I also have an online petition going called: European Union allows sadistic torturing of animals because it's tradition. All signatures (until now I have about 5000, which is really not enough) will be given to Spanish and EU politicians (as Spain is a EU member) to demand a change in our laws so that animals can be respected and protected. I strongly agree that we should protect peoples freedom of speech, culture, opinions, traditions etc.. but it's obvious that these evil medieval practises / traditions do not belong in the 21st Century!! No one, what ever background, should be allowed to hurt another for pure entertainment! the link to the petition is: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/841589646 Very important as I said before, is to spread the word, unfortunately there are still too many people not aware of what is really happening here in Spain. The more people know, the more pressure we can put on our politicians to change our medieval laws. Thank you very much and take care, Sandra Wijnveldt
