S/he will work closely with a variety of philanthropy and program team members in Asia and in the US to raise these funds. His/her primary roles will include (1) identifying and cultivating corporate and individual major donor prospects and secure outright gifts and (2) managing in-region Asia-Pacific Council member activities and relationships. S/he is also responsible for representing TNC as a respected and trusted professional conservation organization in Asia through effective liaison with the media, business and civic community and by developing and orchestrating TNC donor events and trips to Conservancy programs throughout Asia Pacific. This position is supervised by the Asia Pacific Director of Development located in San Francisco and will supervise TNC support staff located in Hong Kong. S/he will be required to recruit and train staff and/or partners and volunteers as necessary. DUTIES: 1. Develop and execute an Asia-based major gifts fundraising strategy to raise at least US$1,000,000 each year through traditional fundraising, cause-related marketing, and other partnerships. This includes managing and cultivating in-region Asia Pacific Council members and building the Asia Conservation Trust (ACT) 2. Identify, cultivate and secure outright funding and new funding sources. Strengthen existing donor and volunteer relationships. This includes managing and building the Asia Conservation Trust advisory committee to engage donors on conservation issues and to advance TNC’s Asia Pacific programs and fundraising efforts. 3. Represent TNC and act as effective liaison with the community, media, donors/prospects and, when appropriate, partners. 4. Organize events in and trips from Hong Kong and region as appropriate. Develop and produce presentations and other communications materials, manage donor follow-up, for these events and partnerships as appropriate. 5. Manages multi-disciplinary administrative and professional staff, responsible for performance management, training and career development. Establishes clear directions and sets stretch objectives. 6. Ensures Hong Kong Office and projects meets country-specific legal requirements and responsible for ensuring office and projects comply with TNC policies and external (donor, grant, government etc.) requirements. ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: 1. Passion for conservation and ability to communicate a compelling vision. 2. At least seven years’ fundraising, non-profit or marketing experience with international organizations, working with executive level clients. Working knowledge of politics, society and conservation communities of Hong Kong, Greater China and the region. 3. Outstanding presentation and written communications skills. Ability to speak and write fluent English and Mandarin mandatory. Some Cantonese desirable. 4. Ability to work effectively with teams, in multi-cultural settings, and direct Asia-based initiatives. 5. Proven ability to manage people effectively, to handle multiple projects simultaneously, to negotiate sensitive agreements, meet deadlines and produce measurable results. 6. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed and to travel internationally, at times travel to remote field locations and/or meetings on short notice. 7. Experience with Microsoft suite, and presentation and desktop publishing software.
