Millet is a grain. That is the name of the grain - millet.

 

The part eaten by people is small round golden-yellow seeds.

Just like birdseed, which is also largely composed of

millet! :)

 

Millet is eaten (traditionally) in quite a few places in

Africa and Asia. It's very good nutritionally, outstanding

as grains go in fact.

 

I like millet and often put some millet in bread I'm baking,

to add a nice crunch. Generally, though, it's boiled and

eaten as you would, say....mashed potatoes or rice. In

other words, it's a starchy food like rice. I like millet

prepared that way too - it's a nice change from rice.

the millet varieties are pretty much the same as far as
