The Pastoralists and Graziers Association wants the National Farmers' Federation to make money available from the Fighting Fund to do so. PGA President Barry Court says the legal action is necessary to protect the live trade, which injects billions of dollars a year into the national economy. Mr Court says he'll present his proposal to the NFF tomorrow and he expects a positive response. " I know I have support from the Cattle Council, the Sheepmeats and certainly Victoria where the problem is, so I expect that an application for Fighting Fund money-fortunately Ian McLachlan the Chairman of the Fighting Fund was in Western Australia for the Australian Wool Innovations meeting on Friday, and with long talks to him indications are that the Fighting Fund there is for an issue like this, and from the meeting we had, which was attended by all facets of the industry, action will be taken. " The NFF says it will consider the PGA's proposal at its executive meeting tomorrow. " The Fighting Fund is a multi million dollar fund that is set aside to run legal cases that have national implications for agriculture. " A religious holiday in the Middle East is slowing efforts to obtain a written guarantee that the 70 thousand sheep will be accepted for import in the region. The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service says an export permit will not be issued until Australian exporters have a written guarantee the animals will be accepted overseas. The live animal export industry body, Livecorp, says it's working with the Middle East importer, while the Federal Government is pursuing diplomatic channels.
