Alert pet dog saves life of doctor

A village doctor's pet dog helped save

his life in Gaoguan Town of Heyuan, reports

Guangzhou Daily.

Liu Jianyao, 50, suddenly became

seriously ill and fainted on his way to see a

patient early on Saturday.

Liu's dog immediately rushed to the home

of one of Gao's neighbour's home and kept

scratching on the door till the neighbour

accompanied the dog and

found Gao lying on the ground. Liu's dog has been

with him for 10 years; and goes along with him on

home visits.

Vigilant dog saves doctor's life

Liu Jianyao, a village doctor in Heyuan,

would have died had his dog not

looked after him.

After visiting a patient at around 1 am

on November 13, the 50-year-old man blew an

artery and collapsed on his way home, reports

Guangzhou Daily.

Liu's dog, which always follows the

doctor when he makes house calls, ran to Liu's

neighbour, pawed his door and barked insistently.

Led by the dog, the neighbour found Liu

and summoned help. Liu has since

recovered.

The dog had tears in its eyes when it showed up that night, said the

neighbour.

'Crying dog' saves master's life

From correspondents in Hong Kong

26Nov03

A DOCTOR'S pet dog saved the life of his collapsed master in China by

turning up on a neighbour's doorstep with tears

in his eyes, a news report said today.

Village doctor Liu Jianyao collapsed with

a burst artery as he returned from a house call

in the early hours of the morning, the Hong Kong

edition of the China Daily reported.

His dog, which always follows the doctor on his house calls, ran to a

neighbour's house and pawed at the door and

barked until someone came to the door.

The neighbour said the dog had tears in his eyes when he opened the

door. It then led him to where his master was lying, the newspaper said.

Rescuers say Liu, from Heyuan in southern

China's Guangdong province, would have died if

the dog had not managed to get help to him in

time.
