Guest guest
Hi, I have an idea. If every business donated 1% of their annual profits to restoring animal shelters, animal investigations, veterinary care, etc., we could make a world of difference. I, myself, just started something new. I am a landscape photographer, and I'm donating 50% of the proceeds to organizations like this one. You can take a look at my website, it's brand new (kind of a work in progress still) www.savinganimalsaccrosstheglobe.com So, I thought if enough people got together to get local businesses involved, we could do great things. What do you think?
Guest guest
Dear Friend, Wonderful. My company also contributes to two organisations on a regular basis. If more people followed your example, even in a much smaller way, it would make a world of difference. God bless you and may all beings be happy. S. Guest guest
My husband and I are not the gazillionaires people think we are, since we're building Gorilla Haven and doing other conservation work across the globe with our own personal, hard-earned funds, not asking for donations, despite the fact we have a 501©(3) nonprofit organization set up to accept donations. If/when we get donations, 100% go to insitu conservation projects, and often we match the donations with 1 or 2 dollars on the donated dollar. But what people don't realize is, we are giving away up to 90% of our annual income. That's when I start to think what would happen if the Bill Gates or Donald Trumps of the world did something like that too. I can fly first class anywhere in the world, but I do not, since I think: " If a first class air ticket to Cameroon costs $6,000 and a coach seat is $800, I can donate $5200 to help sanctuaries in Cameroon and suffer thru a tiny airplane seat for my large America butt and that is better for everyone, and a cheap price for my butt to pay! " ;-) We've been described as " Yuppies Gone Good " but I'm afraid I still see little evidence this trend is catching on, as people remain selfish and destructive for the sake of financial gain. I just wrote an update about this topic on our website (03Oct04 update) at www.gorilla-haven.org if you're interested. Meanwhile the case of the Taiping 4 Gorillas remains in my mind and it is far from settled until someone takes responsibility for the crime in Malaysia.
