Guest guest
Good morning from Thailand, I agree that taking the elephants from the streets of Bangkok is a great cause, but we should realize there is no legal way to pressure people giving up their elephants. Thai law does not prohibit the exploitation of elephants as they are considered to be " livestock " once domesticated. A draft to change the (the animal welfare) law has been made by a working group, however it might take several years before this could become law... I read the website on the provided link and wish to express my concern on your elephant walk to the north. It is going to be a hard trip for the elephants as the distance is over 900 Kms and during the end of the year it is very sunny and dry in Thailand. The elephants will be subject to severe heat during most of the days, and still walk along the roads during these 3 months, why not just get them on a truck to the elephant nature park and get them out of that horrible life immediately?
