FYI: Please forward this message to your members.

_*Tokyo Vegetarian Week Festival ---Food Forward for Love*

< <http://www.tokyovwf.com/> http://www.tokyovwf.com/>_* will be held August 28

through September 4,

2005 in Tokyo, Japan. This marks the second year of the festival.* *Please visit

our website for more information:* www.tokyovwf.com

The aim of Tokyo Vegetarian Week Festival < <http://www.tokyovwf.com/>

http://www.tokyovwf.com/>is

to provide an opportunity for people to get in touch with vegetarian

cultures in Japan. Vegetarian-friendly restaurants, professionals, and

speakers will hold multiple vegetarian related events in Tokyo. This

year, there will be many events with a variety of topics and styles,

such as those involving organic foods, healing, raw food, Macrobiotics,

cooking seminars, exhibitions, panel discussions, workshops etc. (Please

note that most of these events will be in Japanese.)

We will be commemorating Kenji Miyazawa, a vegetarian novelist, poet,

scientist, teacher and farmer (1896-1933). Miyazawa wrote the novel

" Vegetarian Taisai (Festival), " in which a vegetarian festival was held

on September 4. Thus, we decided to celebrate vegetarianism in Japan

around that date. The main exhibition " /Alternative Dining-Vegetarian

Diet for Health, Environment and Society/ " will be held Aug. 20th

through Sept.10th. Also, other events will be interspersed from Aug.

20th through Sept.17, so even if you won't be able to be in Tokyo during

the main week of the festival (Aug. 28 - Sept 4), there will be some

programs you might be interested in attending.

We would be pleased if many people could participate in our events

http://www.tokyovwf.com/english/en_event_info.htm> and touch the

various vegetarian cultures here in Tokyo. It would be wonderful if you

could get the chance to visit Tokyo during the time of the festival--and

join us!
