Kim Bartlett Shanghai Daily December 7, 2005 Biggest stray animal shelter to open in city Shanghai's biggest stray animal asylum will open Saturday to adopt stray animals and offer them free medical treatment, the Oriental Morning Post said today. The 200-square-meter Shanghai Pets Succor Center, funded by the Shanghai Minhang District Pets Association, is recruiting volunteers, the Shanghai-based newspaper said. " The center will be totally managed by volunteers, " the Post said, citing a center inside surnamed Zhou. An official of the Minhang District Pets Association said medical treatment often becomes a barrier for people to help stray dogs or cats, so the center's first job is to offer a free medical service. Then, a large number of benevolent volunteers are needed.
