Guest guest
have " Beyond Veg " listed on the club's links page. It IS interesting reading. Don't usually see the negative side of raw food in print.

I need to read more at that site. One of the comments I read talked about the dangers of making " raw food " a kind of religion. You know, you get so focused on your diet that you start to lose focus with the rest of your life. That's a good point to make. We have to have balance. Being so focused on eating raw food at the expense of our family and friends can not be a good thing in the long run. But for some people it is very hard to make a commitment to a diet without going a bit overboard.

It looks like I'm more aligned with the " realists " rather than the " idealists " as described by this site.

Here's some quotes I agree with that I thought were good enough to repeat here:

1. " The most sensible way to view raw diets is to regard them as potential tools for good health. Like any other tool, they can be helpful if used correctly, and may be harmful if used incorrectly. "

2. " Good health, not 100% raw, is the goal to work towards. Good health and a 100% raw (vegan) diet aren't necessarily the same, a lesson that some rawists learn the hard way. Don't obsess on a specific % of raw in your diet. Instead, find the diet, the % of raw, that works for you, in that it supports good health for you. (Note: some people who adopt raw specifically for healing may need to follow a nearly 100% raw diet for some time, as part of their healing program.) "

3. " Realistic expectations: raw foods diets are famous for their health enhancement and healing effects. However, one must try and see for oneself, as results are not guaranteed. "

I have to go back and read more of this site. I don't think I agree with " everything " but it is worth reading for a more rounded out perspective.

OrionsDad
