Guest guest
Why is it so necessary to eat all raw foods? Why not increase your raw food intake instead of making a lifestyle out of it? Don't the same health benefits exist?

Also, how do you determine the health benenfits of raw foodism vs. cooked vegetarianism? Both will cause most Americans to lose weight. Guest guest
Matndenver,

Read some of the earlier posts in this club and visit some of the links in the link section. Many raw foodist believe that " cooked food is poison " to the body. So eating NO cooked food is better than a LITTLE cooked food.

For me, weight loss is a benefit of eating raw food but not the main reason for doing so. It's the quality and appropriateness of the food to the human body that is important. Raw fruits, vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts have their enzymes intact--cooked foods do not. Raw foods are easier to digest (good) and provide more nutrition (good). So while both ways of eating cause people to lose weight I believe raw food helps to build a stronger and healthier body.

Take a look through the past posts. You will find some good descriptions of how well people are doing on a totally raw diet. I see the benefits in my health and they coincide with what is posted by others.

While I think cooked vegetarianism is much better than meat eating I don't equate vegetarianism with health. Cooked vegetables are just as " dead " as cooked animal products and therefore don't provide the human body with optimum materials to build healthy cells. But cooked vegetarianism does not have the saturated fats found in a meat diet and so it is vastly superior in that regard.

-Orionsdad
Guest guest
The nature of addictions is that we only become addicted to toxic substances, ie alcohol, nicotine , drugs etc. We know cooked food is toxic because it kills people, lab animals, etc. Cooked food is the mother of all addictions. When you get over cooked food addiction, all other addictions magicaly dissapear. I have been addicted to a lot of crap in my life, as I gave up each addiction I would go through the same withdrawal symptoms. The first one is denial, as long as I denie I have an addiction, or that the substance is even addictive, I don't have to deal with it. When I get past that, the next thing I say to myself is; " Why can't I just smoke 5 cigaretts a day, why do I have to quit completely " . The reason of course is because addictions ALWAYS get worse. If a hungry lion is attacking me, I have to stop him, slowing him down won't keep me alive.

Doug
Guest guest
Actually, there are plenty of overweight vegetarians and vegans. Because of the dependency on cooked grains in the diet, along with dairy and possibly eggs for vegetarians, the system gets clogged up.

Natural Hygiene (Raw Foods, Biogenic Living) keep the systems flowing naturally, allowing for weight loss.

Of course, exercise is the critical element in the equation. Reducing caloric intake will not net weight loss unless we are burning calories through exercise. The body will go into fasting or starvation mode and hang onto what it has if it thinks it is not getting enough calories.
