Guest guest
www.essene.org for some very interesting downloads. Eating raw food has a strong spiritual component, particularly gratitude to God for the great life-giving flavors of raw food. The Essene Scriptures quote Jesus (actual name Yehowshua) extensively on proper diet. Paul the Apostate threw out all of His teachings and started the meat-eating, slavery-approving, women-hating, reincarnation-denying vulgar-religion of (pseudo) Christianity, actually 'Paulianity', which today includes all Protestants as well as Catholics. Guest guest
Right on! Rawfoodrules, you just hit a nerve with me. If it had not been for Paul, all Christians would be raw foodists. Paul actually betrayed Jesus. I could go on about this for hours.

Doug

Guest guest
In the '50s an experiment was done between raw and cooked food. The results showed there were benefits from eating raw food.

I do think, though, that using religion to justify eating raw food is unfortunate.

It's plain to me that both Religion and Raw Food attracts some people who have problems which can't be solved by raw food or religion.

Eating raw food does improve the health of some people.

So for their sake we should not make unsubstantiated claims which bring raw food into disrepute. Guest guest
I agree that trying to connect religion and raw diet is problematic. I think if we look under it all, in the early part of mankind's history, they must have subsisted on a predominately raw diet.

After the discovery of fire, they were able to add meat and probably started cooking veggies after that.

However, trying to speculate about a religious figure, like Jesus, who is a combination of real person and mythical figure, is just an empty intellectual game.

The reasons one might want to try to eat raw--health, connectedness to nature/earth/diety, healing existing problems, etc.--are individual.
