Guest guest
Dear Ladybug,

The Slow Food Movement started in Italy as a protest against fast foods being introduced largely from the U.S.

The Slow Food Movement has now taken root in the U.S.

It encourages quality produce from small farmers, and it encourages the convivial enjoyment of dinning together.

The name Slow Food is in distinction to Fast Food like MacDonalds.

It is peripheral to the Raw Food Movement, however we are both interested in quality produce and I would like to think we are both interested in the pleasures of dinning together.

I think we Raw Fooders would benefit from sharing the pleasures of the table.

Victor. Guest guest
Well I for one am interested in quality produce but I see nothing wrong with dining alone. I actually prefer to eat alone but I'm not opposed to dining with others on an occasional basis. I guess I'm used to eating alone and I've grown very comfortable with it and really do prefer it but that is neither here nor there. We all have our preferences.

I copied this from another one of your posts and I was wondering why you believe this...

& lt; & lt;And I think that very small, expensive cuts of lean, red meat, grilled rare, are good for the health of women. & gt; & gt;
Guest guest
Dear LadyBugg,

I am glad you like to eat alone.

As for very small, expensive cuts of lean, red meat, grilled rare---it is not so much I believe in it, as I see it as an insurance policy with few risks.

It is rich in nutrients, it is delicious and if only eaten, say, weekly, the body can easily detoxify the byproducts.

I also think that one of the problems of the Raw Food Movement is that it can be seen as a form of Salvation through Cleansing.

Raw food can't solve all problems, certainly not the human condition.

However it does seem that raw food is good for your health. And it is important to avoid obsession, nutrient difficiency or social isolation.

Victor.
Guest guest
Shortus, you're confusing me even more. You say eating small amounts of red meat isn't something you believe in but you " see it as an insurance policy with no risks. " Insurance policy? What is it insuring? And if you don't believe in it, why are you saying women will benefit from it?

Then you say... " It is rich in nutrients, it is delicious and if only eaten, say, weekly, the
body can easily detoxify the byproducts. "

I have to disagree with the " it is delicious " part. I cannot stand the taste of red meat personally. And what nutrients is it rich in if it is cooked? Don't these so called nutrients get destroyed when you cook or even lightly cook it? And this part is contradiciting the rest of your post.... " and if only eaten, say, weekly, the
body can easily detoxify the byproducts. "

Detoxify the byproducts? If it's beneficial for us (women, you say) and so rich in nutrients, why would the body have to detoxify itself after eating it? And you say to only eat it weekly. That leads me to believe it if were eaten more often, it would cause harm. You can eat a balance of fresh fruits and veggies every day an cause no harm or need for detoxification.

" Raw food can't solve all problems, "

Agreed. No diet can solve all problems we humans face.

" And it is important to avoid obsession, nutrient difficiency or social isolation. "

I can agree with that but some people truly like to isolate. I'm not one of them as I do like to socialize but I do like my alone time too.

I'm not trying to be difficult. I just want to hear you explain why you say small amounts of cooked red meat is good for women.
