Guest guest
When a simple diet is turned into the Gateway to Paradise, I smell a dead fish.

I have noticed that those who seek Paradise are in fact, now, unhappy. They deny their unhappiness by filling their minds with a non-existing Paradise.

We used to call it Pie-in-the-Sky.
Guest guest
Those with Personality Disorders are attracted to Raw because it enables them to deny their unhappiness and the fact that their unhappiness will continue.

When you are finally on the Raw Diet and you are still unhappy, they tell you that you haven't been on it long enough, that you are still 'detoxing'.

Then there are those who become the 'priests' of Raw. They have an arcane theology which can tell which raw foods will inhibit enzymes or not. This has no more basis in reality than angels dancing on the heads of pins.

Why are we so gullible as to believe them?
Guest guest
The reason we are so gullible is that we don't want to face that we are the authors of our own unhappiness and more than likely the unhappiness of those around us.

There is nothing like having someone or something to blame.

Let's face it Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Psychopathic Personality Disorder, Addictive Personality Disorder are lousy personalities to be.

And our personalities can't be changed, no matter how much raw food we eat. Guest guest
Victor,

I'm only going to take issue with one assertion you made: that which foods inhibit enzymes has no basis in reality.

I've read books on the subject of enzymes (not from Raw Foodists either) and it was stated matter of factly that certain foods are known to contain enzyme inhibitors. I never did and still don't fully understand the significance of the issue. I assumed it meant the enzyme inhibitors hindered the digestion of that particualy food, but not that it affected the enzymes of the human body.

Anyway, until someone proves to me otherwise, I don't belive there's any panacea that produces paradise. Although I know from experience there are certain disciplines and things that get you close, at least temporarily (like some forms of meditation). Like you, I think raw food is great in its own sake, but I am a little skeptical that raw food alone brings spiritual enlightenment, although I wouldn't argue with the assertion that it purifies your body and mind somewhat which might be considered a precurser to enlightenment. I am interested to hear from people who feel Raw made them enlightened.

Every one I get to know well has fairly significant personality " disorders " . I find people who don't to be either boring or dumb and happy. Or maybe the issue is it is normal to be abnormal. And normal people are the anomoly. Anyway, I approach seemingly normal and always happy people with a combination of suspicion and awe.
Guest guest
Victor;
I am as skeptical as you when it comes to so called " enlightenment " . When I have these experances, I question it. Mabe I'm comeing down with something, mabe its blood sugar, mabe its gas. However, there is some scientific evidence for what Arnold Ehret and many others talk about.

A detoxed raw vegan is Physicly (saliva, blood, urein, and tisue) more alkaline. You can test this by buying litmus paper and testing yourself. When you become alkaline, the Cytoplasm ( the liqued part of the cell) becomes more alkaline. The cell acts, similar to a battery, the Nucleus is positive charged and acidic. The Cytoplasm is negative charged and alkaline. When the Cytoplasm is more alkaline, the cell functions properly, does not mutate into cancer. DNA is not damaged, etc. This happens to all cells in your body, including brain cells, and nerve cells (which carry information along by nerve impulses through the Synapse) So we do have some evidence for, at least a higher functioning brain.

There is something else every recovering alcoholic can testify to; When you get clean, when all the alcohol is out of your system (for me it was about 6 months) You wake up, you suddenly start thinking clearly. They call it comeing out of the fog, and its real. It happened to me, even though, I was never an alcoholic (I refused to go to the meetings ;~) ). It seems to me, if that can happen after cleaning yourself of one toxin. What could happen after cleaning yourself of all toxins.

Doug
Guest guest
Dear Mallon,

Thank you for your good reply.

I do accept that certain foods contain enzyme inhibitors.

Your view of raw and enlightenment is well-balanced.

And I very much like your approach to happy people, that is, with suspicion and awe.

I enjoyed your reply.

Victor. Guest guest
Dear Doug,

It was good to hear about the cells and alkalinity. Particularly how they act as a battery, with an acid centre, surrounded by an alkaline sphere.

And very interesting to hear about coming out of the fog and being able to think clearly.

And what a good question, " What could happen after cleaning yourself of all toxins? " .

I think eating raw does bring on large changes and how important it is to be able to understand what is going on.

It's good to hear from you.

Victor.
