Dr. Jonny Lovewisdom became 100% raw, I believe

in his 40s and stayed that way until his death at 81

with no health problems. He was also a fruitarian for

" Decades " . I think the problems Blake may be talking about

are Temparary ones that come up as a result of

detoxifying. I have had severe and crippling problems, but I

knew I was on Mother Nature's operating table. I

healed, stronger than ever.

My feeling on 100% raw

is that you cannot truly Experience the full taste

of raw foods as long as you are poluting your body

and taste buds with cooked foods. I don't think I

will ever go back to eating tasteless crap. You gotta

try Guacamole with chips made from Yams (sweet

potatoes).(Sell my clothes, I'm Goin' to heaven.)

This

problem of raw food not filling you up is a hard one, but

it dosen't last very long. I eat less now than I

ever ate on cooked food. I grow most of my food. Not

only because it is Organic but also because I'm a

cheap bastard.

Here's a good recipe for

Guacamole;

Hey Doug,

Thanks for the recipe URL. They

look worth messing with except for the Pico. It's way

too complex.

Chopped tomatoes
chopped onion

(1015's if possible)
Chopped cilantro
chopped

jalapeno,
a little vinegar to ease the heat of the jalapeno

and bring out the flavor
A tiny bit of

salt

Use your own proportions More tomatoe than onion, way

more onion than cilantro, Way less jalapeno but more

than you think you can stand (Lose the seeds)

A

little organic tequila and Oh boy.

Jules

Doug,

Thanks for the recipes. They look

great. I love avocadoes - plain, with a squeeze of lime

juice, or as guacamole. It never occurred to me that you

could use raw yams as chips to dip in it. I'll have to

try that one this weekend.

BTW, many moons ago

you commented on the relatively low price of land in

the part of Hawaii you reside. Do you mind saying

again what it costs? And how do you survive there? Are

there jobs in your area, or did you have to save up

some sum of money in advance of moving

there?

Don't worry - I won't show up next door any time soon

(I've got 2 small children I can't desert). But I like

to know what my options are for future exit

strategies.

Mallon

all I said MOST raw fooders not all, and in the long

term, like over 5 years, so I wasn't talking about

detox. Also Johnny was not a fruitarian fro most of that

time and i'm not sure if he was 100% raw for that

whole time either.

Blake

Blake; You keep saying that 100% raw foodists

quit because of health " problems " I am not aware of

any of these people talking about " Problems " as a

reason for not being 100%. You fail to mention any

" problems " that they had. For every " Guru " you mention I can

come up with at least one who is 100% raw. I realy get

the sense that you are looking for " problems " and

just finding what you are looking for. I say this

because your posts seem to be all hear-say, and

conjecture. I always believed that Viktoras and the rest were

not 100% because of choice. 100% is not for everyone

just as raw food is not for everyone. Until recently,

I felt raw food was the holy grail, that everyone

should, be raw, and that, would solve all the problems of

the world. I don't feel that way now. I only know

that it solved my problems. I believe that as raw

foodists we should tell people about raw foods, and let

them make their own choice. My lady friend is only

about 50% raw, and it is not an issue for

us.

Mallon; Yes land is very cheap where I live because

people buy it and abandon it. You can get an acre at

auction (the state auctions off these abandoned lots for

taxes) for around $1200. But it is on a recent lava

flow, (more may be coming) there is no dirt, water,

most have no electricty or phone. It rarely rains (14

inches last year,). My home is solar, I catch rain

water, and haul my own dirt. I live at 3800 foot

elevation on the slopes of the most active volcano on

earth. It is very secluded. There are no jobs. I make my

living on the internet and I love it.

Doug

& gt; & gt; & gt;I realy get the sense that you are

looking for " problems " and just finding what you are

looking for.

I have no motivation to do this! I

need to make clear that I am not against 100% raw I am

merely trying to demonstate that in the long term it is

not as easy to acheive as the gurus may say it is and

that 80% or there abouts may be much more

acheivable.

I still plan to try 100% raw for a large length of

time at some stage and will try and make it work if

not oh well.

& gt; & gt; & gt;I believe that as raw

foodists we should tell people about raw foods, and let

them make their own choice.

Yes although raw

carries with it mis-information. When most people hear

mineral, vitamins and proteins are destroyed they laugh

and don't even look into it.

Why do you think

100% raw would be better than 85% raw if the 15% was

just whole plant foods such as steamed vegetables???

BTW i'm not stating that it's not just wondering why

you think it is.
