Guest guest
Hi Sheila,

What are you doing to detox? You can detox by eating 100% raw, or if you want a more intense detox, you can do a juice fast. That can be a bit harsh as far as detox symptoms, so you might want to ease into it gradually. But you definitely don't have to wait to start eating raw. It'll be pretty hard to get cleaned out if you're not eating raw foods.

Maggie
Guest guest
Hello Maggie, What i am doing is a juice fast... I have had no detox symptoms yet... I don't know what to expect... I was already eating all vegitables before i decided to try going raw... So mabey i will not have regular detox... I But i havn't been eating all vegies very long before. I was doing a juice fast 21 day program , 8 days just juice, 3 days to go off of the fast then 10eating raw vegies... But i didn't get but to about 6 days because i didn't have a bowel movement for all those days, and I didn't know about using an enima or phsyllum husk... But you don't think i need to do a fast at all? I am starting over on the fast now, I am only into my 3rd day.... Thank you for your reply, I will need help with this, and also good recipies..... Guest guest
Sheila,

A juice fast is a great way to detox, but it's not absolutely necessary. The reason for the constipation you experience is probably two-fold. First of all, if you're doing all juice, there is very little left for the body to convert to waste material. The body USES the liquid portion of the food after it's broken down, and the rest is filtered out. Secondly, even when you are eating solid foods, detox tends to be a generally constipating process anyway, at least for me. I assume that's because of all of the toxins released into the blood stream and then leaving the body as waste.

A fast isn't imperative for detox. What I usually do is use a product called Barleygreen in the morning (it's the juice of barley leaves), then a fiber supplement mid morning called Herbal Fiberblend, then Barleygreen again at noon followed by carrot juice, then 1/2 hour later I eat a fruit lunch. I take more barleygreen around dinner time, sometimes followed by more carrot juice. Then 1/2 later, I have a vegetable salad. Then if I'm having any detox symptoms such as a headache, sometimes I will follow this with a cooked vegetable or some rice or whole grain pasta. That seems to ease up on the symptoms for me.

I haven't tried a juice fast yet, but I am thinking about it. If you wanted to stick to the juice fast, but were worried about the constipation, you could certainly try a natural fiber supplement or an enema (a purified water enema, I wouldn't recommend anything with harsh chemicals such as fleet). If you didn't feel comfortable doing a home enema, you could also go for a colonic.

It's all a matter of personal preference, but it sounds like you're on the right track!

Maggie
