Guest guest
Victor,

A while back you posted about your blood pressure remaining high, even though you've been totally raw for a long time. I think you also tried a water fast for several days. Did that help, or did it come down since? Also, how's your weight - are you thin since being raw so long?

Different topic I want to throw out here in hopes of getting an answer. In the news media, it is often stated that the " average life expectancy " has generally gotten longer during most of the 1900's. Alternative health writers say that figure is skewed because of infant mortality. I.e., they say that the odds of dying in infancy dropped dramatically, but for an adult the odds of living to old age have actually been decreasing. The implication is that when converting to a mean average the deterioration of adults aging is more than offset by vast improvements in infant mortality, giving the false impression that health is improving as evidenced by increased life span.

I've never heard in the media how average life expectancy is derived. Does anyone know with certainty which position is correct?

Mallon
Guest guest
Mallon,

Re BP:

Exercise is one of the most important factors here, much areobic exercise should be undertaken everday.

Dietary salt is another big one. It should be avoided.

Dietary fat, people should not overload on raw fats. I think 20% of calories is a good number for people on a raw diet.

re: life expectancy

I agree, I read somewhere that the number of 70 year olds living to 90 is actually decreasing.

The way I see it there are three components of health that should result from a healthy lifestyle.

1) General feeling of well being and good health now and throughout your life.

2) prevention of illnesses/diseases in later life

3) Increased Life expectancy

Quality of life is probably more important than length of life. When I reach 70, still got half a century to go, I want to still be agile and active and feel as good as I do now.

Blake
Guest guest
Greetings, raw friends,Have enjoyed reading everyone's questions and replies to same. I am new to this way of eating and would like to ask what meals actually consist of. I can picture fruit eaten alone, but the raw vegetable meals are more challenging for me. All I can think of is a big bowl of green leaves with some olive oil on them. Do you just go about embellishing this basic bowl of leaves with seeds and nuts?! Do you drink anything but water?A site which answers elementary concerns such as mine would be much appreciated, if you folks know of a good one. Thanks,Shae

First of all, there are different types of raw foodists. There are raw foodists who eat fresh fruits only. There are others who eat fresh fruits and vegetables only. There are others who eat fruits, veggies, and also nuts seeds and dried fruits. There are others who eat fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and also sprouted beans and grains. There are other raw foodists who also use supplements or herbs.

All of these type of vegan raw foodists will give you different answers to your questions. Also, some beleive in only eating certain types of foods at one meal since they don't interact with other foods as well. Others will eat a large combination of foods at the same meal. Some will eat one vegetable at a time and others will combine all their veggies into a sald. Some will use oil and thers do not eat oil.

I know this all sounds confusing, but there is no such thing as a typical raw food diet. So, whenever you do ask questions here, don'tbe confused by the act that different people will give you contradictory answers. You'll just have to sift through all the answers and figure out which ones work best for you. Just don't listen to anyone who tells you that you are not eating the right type of raw food diet, they are only giving their opinion. And don't feel that you immediately have to become 100% raw, many people eat mainly raw for years before they become 100%.
