I've noticed some references to a book about ill effects of eating

grains. I couldn't find the book on Amazon.com.

I've enjoyed eating raw grains since 1996, soaked in warm milk or

water, of course. The grains are specialized mixtures from South

Korea, the Oh Haeng company, and are known here as 'Seng Shik'. When

I've held to the more-or-less exclusive raw grain diet, supplemented

by other raw foods (e.g., vegatables, nuts, fruit), I've never felt

better, had more energy, lost more weight, etc...

What is the scientific basis of this mysterious 'Grain Damage' book?

Thanks.

Where do you get these grains in the US or on the internet?

You can buy bulk grains at co ops. I would like to buy 25# bags of grains if

possible.

Sue,

We have a US-based nutritionist/distributor mail us the grain

mixtures. He's a very nice and knowledgeable man, now living near

NYC. He could interview you, and based on any symptoms, body type,

et cetera, recommend appropriate grain mixtures. (We've had several

opportunities where we'd visit with him, and he could better

ascertain more precisely which grains might be most helpful.)

One of many mixtures contain all the following:

Small red bean, Baley milled, Buckwheat, Peanuts, Chinese quince,

Corn, Soybean black, Foxtailmillet, Potatoes, Acorn, Mushroom,

Glutinous rice, Sesame black

(I usually eat a mixture of mixtures..)

Assuming you're still interested, I'll send you his email offlne. (I

don't have it handy at the moment.)

Regards.

" Grain Damage " is not a mysterious book. It is very well known among

the raw foodists I know. If soaked grains agree with you, then eat

them....do what you want. I am simply passing on information. I

respect Dr. Graham's writings and believe that if you have questions

concerning the raw lifestyle, his books are a good source of

information. He has been a raw food vegan for a long time. If you

read his books and disagree with what he says, fine. At least you

came away with a different viewpoint. I also wouldn't rely on

Amazon.com to supply raw food books. Try rawfood.com or

livingnutrition.com.

I know that grain is an acid ash producing food. Is that what the book is about?

Our diet needs to be primarily veggies and fruit, raw. Even in my nutritional

studies, it states that grain and meat or protein, need to be considered

condiments rather than necessary foods. It's dangerous to eat only grain at a

meal?

I agree about " Grain Damage. " People can also find out more about the

dangers of grains by going to this very detailed site with many

scientific references. It's http://www.waisays.com/

I couldn't find the exact article but I think she talks about the

danger of grains in many of the articles. She talks about the opiates

in grains and how addictive they are.

It's a very interesting site. I think most of you will enjoy reading

all of her informative articles. She isn't vegetarian though. She

does recommend limited amounts of Sashimi or other raw animal

products. Very interesting none the less.
