I have been 100% raw save a few beers here and there

for 6 months or so but still I need a toothbrush.

The need is less than before but I think that until

I get my diet right, the dental need will persist.

My hope is that when the need for the brush goes I will

have passed the acid test of being more or less on the right diet.

I speculate whether toothpaste might kill of bacteria. I knew a person

raised by Christian Scientists who never cleaned his teeth and

drank smoked and ate standard diet. However I also know that

people in the 16th to 19th centuries almost never had their

portraits painted with their teeth showing as more often than

not the teeth were black. A famous example is Queen Elizabeth I

Thus simply letting the mouth rot in the hope that some natural

bacteria will develop in the mouth is not the answer either.

I have been told that Arabs in times gone by used to wash

their mouths after a meal and that helped a lot. I notice dogs

tend to spend a lot of time licking their teeth after eating.

No doubt a light will shine through in the end

Lauretta & Peter,

I can't agree more with Lauretta. I'm familiar with Hallelujah

Acres. Rotting teeth are nothing more than a sick body internally.

The body works from the inside out and if the inside is unclean, it

will surface itself via teeth, skin, hair, etc.

I began a 95% raw food diet with juice therapy about a year ago and I

can't tell you enough of how great it is. My body is healing many

illnesses-I'm almost completely off thyroid medication!

The people I know with teeth problems all have many other internal

problems. Even poor genetics can be reversed with a raw food

program. It's another one God's amazing gifts to us.

Sharon, it doesn't sound as

though you are eating enough

or getting enough variety. At

least add a large salad to

your lunch and a smaller one

to start your dinner. A good

variety of vegetables will

provide all the protein and

nutrients you need. The fruit

adds more calorie density

because of the fruit sugars

and, of course, a lot of good

nutrients. Whether or not you

are trying to lose weight, you

don't want to let your caloric

intake drop to the point that

your metabolism slows down or

you'll feel more fatigued. Is

your cooked food meal vegan?

The juice not only helps with

hunger, it provides good and

easily digested nutrition. I

juice anything I find in the

frig. Our basic juice recipe

is carrots, celery, spinach,

and parsley and frequent

additions are broccoli,

mustard greens, collard

greens, and cucumbers.

I seldom have a " cooked meal " .

The cooked portion of my diet

is mostly from the Ezekiel

bread or tortillas I use to

make a wrap out of my salad on

some days or from cooked

legumes or soy cheese that I

add to my salad.

Did you ever worry about

getting enough protein and

nutrients when you were on the

SAD? If you eat a wide

variety of foods, you will

have a hard time not getting

enough protein and nutrients.

Variety is also the key to

feeling full and satisfied.

If you eat the same foods

everyday in the same

combinations, you will find it

difficult to stick to this way

of life.

Good luck!

I would also like to hear

about your experiences with

therapy and getting off

thyroid medication.

I have suffered from fatigue

for years and finally found

out I was

hypothyroid about 5 years

ago. I resisted getting on

medication for at

least another 2 or 3 years.

With medication I feel

somewhat better

(provided the dose is

like to get off of

medication totally.

I'd also be interested in

some examples of what you

might eat (and

juice) in a given day. I'm

having a lot of trouble

figuring out what

to eat and how much to eat

in order to get enough protein

and nutrients.

Do you eat combos of foods

and make recipes, or do you

rely

predominantly on juices for

your nutrition?

What I've basically been

doing is eating a few fruits

in the morning,

then later in the day I may

eat some sprouts and an

avocado and about 20

nuts, which have been soaked

for about a day. I generally

feel hungry

all the time and I haven't

felt satisfied. At dinner

I've been eating

a cooked food meal and I'm

so hungry by then, I tend to

eat too much.

Do you find that juicing

helps you need to eat less

food and helps you

feel more satisfied?

Lately I've been feeling like

I don't want to

eat vegetables very much.

I want something more

exciting.

I don't mean to overwhelm

you with questions. Don't

feel obligated to

answer them all.

I'd be happy to hear some

meal plan suggestions from

anyone who has

been eating raw for a while

and feeling good. Does anyone

have food

logs posted anywhere?

Thanks for any help you can

offer.

Sharon

Quick Reply,

You are hungry only because you haven't taken in enough calories.

Increase fruit consumption double or triple amounts or whatever you

need to feel satisfied. Too much fat will make you sluggish.

A raw foodists primary source of energy is going to come from fruits.

You just have to eat what you would think are insane amounts.

Hi Linda,

It takes a while to heal organs, but God has given us

all the resources to do so in nature. I was on Armour

Thryoid and Cytomel- a very high dose mind you. I'm

now on just a smidget of Armour and plan to be off in

a couple months. I juice different combinations

specifically for different organs, along with

mini-(3-4 day) juice fasts, diet and colon

hydrotherapy.

One example of thryoid juice is carrot, bell pepper,

alfalfa sprouts, and bib lettuce.

The colon hydrotherapy is critical because it cleans

out old debris and restores health in the colon. This

allows the organs to eliminate mucous and toxins.

It's quite amazing.

If you are feeling tired and draggy on your diet, my

guess is that you are detoxing. This is typical and I

still go through it quite often even after all this

time on the program. Let me know if you have anymore

questions!

Hi Sharon,

You sound exactly like me 7 years ago up until last

year. I tried everything, but didn't committ to one

thing until I found the answer. It wasn't in any

supplements either.

First and foremost, get a juicer. It's pure medicine!

Your organs are toxic and you need to clean them out.

You have to wean onto them though or you will get

very sick.

Secondly, follow a food combining diet for proper

digestion and assimilation. Eat mostly raw similar to

the way you are already, but increase your food intake

if you are not satiated. I would add flax seed oil

and olive oil on your salads everyday. Add 1 Tbsp.

Wheat Germ oil on cut up fruit or a smoothy in the AM.

The oils don't make you gain weight-only lose if need

be. Stay away from grains, soy and too much meats.

Stick with eggs, turkey, lamb and avocado for protein.

Thirdly, find someone who is a certified Colon

Hydrotherapist. This is critical. You need to clean

your colon and make sure you are eliminating properly

on a regular basis. Without this you will not get

better-point blank. Enemas help too. They aren't as

good as colonics though.

Don't mistake detoxification with sickness b/c your

syptoms are mimicked when you detox.

Here's a good sample diet:

Meal 1

2-3 Pieces fruit blended into smoothie or cut up

(i.e. Banana, strawberries, blackberries)

½ Tbsp. Wheat Germ Oil

1 Tbsp. Wheat Germ

1 Tbsp. Ground Flax Seeds

Meal 2

1 Cup brown rice or ½ cup oatmeal, measured uncooked

-(not until later stages)

Meal 3

Large Salad with a variety of mixed vegetables (i.e.

romaine, bib lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, cucumber,

celery, tomato, raw asparagus, green beans, grated

beets, grated sweet potatoes, etc)

Fresh herbs (i.e. basil, thyme, oregano, sage, etc.)

½ Avocado

¼ Cup Goat’s cheese

1 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil and 1 Tbsp. Flax Oil

Meal 4

12-15 raw nuts germinated (soaked 8-12 hours in

spring water)

(I.e. almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, etc—no peanuts)

3-4 figs, dates rolled in coconut, or ½ cup raisins

Meal 5

4-5 Oz. Protein (i.e. turkey, lamb, chicken

preferably free range

Salad and/or steamed vegetables (broccoli must be

blanched)

1 Tbsp. Olive oil

Meal 6 (optional)

1-2 pieces fruit if hungry

Hi Regina,

Isn't this quite embarassing to have done? Could you explain the

process a little bit here or to me in a private email? Is it very

expensive? Do you see interesting things come out of you?

Thanks,

Sharon

Hi Sharon,

I tried to post yesterday but for some reason my post did not stick.

A quick answer if you are feeling hungry is that you are not getting

enough calories. I used to feel hungry all the time on the raw diet

until I was told I wasn't consuming enough calories from fruit. Now

after quite a while on the 100% raw diet I feel satiated. I have very

little cravings as well. The longer you go all raw the less cravings

you get. Much of the cravings start because of mental habits of going

out to eat and emotional reasons.

Since the raw diet has lots of water in it you have to consume much

more water to consume enough calories to feel satiated. Try to double

to quadruple your fruit intake. Bananas are quite calorie rich.

Try counting calories for a bit to make sure you are getting about

the same amount or more of calories that you used to eat with cooked

foods.

Has anyone done any study or know anything about Natural Hygiene? There are

a few pages on the web about Natural Hygiene and even one that is a

educational site that you have to pay for lessons on. I will be glad to

pass on some of these links, but think there are ways to naturally (by

eating certain foods perhaps) control all of your bodies hygiene.

I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about natural hygiene

though and welcome any comments on the subject.

Thanks,

Fred

Since diabetes is a big

problem in my family, I prefer

a vegetable based diet. Most

(3/4) of my fruit consist of

tomatoes, avocados, bell

peppers, and cucumbers. I do

usually have a handful of

berries and some raw nuts,

too. This works very well for

me and I don't have sugar

highs and mood swings that

many people heavily into

fruits report.

Quick Reply,

You are hungry only because

you haven't taken in enough

calories.

Increase fruit consumption

double or triple amounts or

whatever you

need to feel satisfied. Too

much fat will make you

sluggish.

A raw foodists primary

source of energy is going to

come from fruits.

You just have to eat what

you would think are insane

amounts.

Dental health is tied to a number of factors of lesser or greater

impact. By far the greatest, most important factor to maintaining

dental health is dental hygiene (correct brushing, flossing, getting

your teeth cleaned, and even (shudder) topical fluoride treatments

for those who don't wish to drink fluoridated water.

Nutrition is a very marginal factor. In fact, you can eat just about

anything and keep your teeth for the rest of your life, as long as

you practice the basics of dental hygiene I listed above.

Of course, this all goes against the standard line that many pick up

when they their thinking turns " absolutely raw. " That is, if raw

foods are good for you, then what science has uncovered about dental

health no longer has any application. Eat raw, and if your teeth

have problems, it only means you're detoxing or suffering the effects

of internal pollution.

That's dangerous advice. If your teeth have problems, SEE A DENTIST

IMMEDIATELY. People actually die from infected teeth. At the very

least, people needlessly suffer and lose teeth because they think

Dentists are " bad, " dental science " corrupt, " and have blind faith

that raw foods will solve any health problem.

I suspect that many raw foodists have dental problems, simply because

they do not see dentists, do not brush or take care of their

teeth...their raw faith is no match for the real rules of Mother

Nature.

See a dentist. Eating mangoes with false teeth would be a real drag.
