Guest guest
I just want to know how long it takes for the detoxification to end from the onset of raw. I will never turn back to dead food, but the raw diet is putting me into a continuing state of awfulness while my body is ridding of the toxic mess it's been in for 30-some-odd years. It's been a little over a year on the raw for me. It's good to hear that there are some long time raw foodists out there. It's definitely inspiration. Guest guest
Regina, If it is any use, the whole transition business gets better and easier; or soit did for me. I would hazard a guess that the tougher the passage the better the final result. Guest guest
Peter, I think you are right. I think that the times when I feel the worse, the faster my body is eliminating the junk. It's just difficult to make it through a work week and be productive. I notice though, that the more I juice, the faster I heal-also, the more I can handle the juices without going into massive detoxification. Patience! --- Peter Gardiner <petergardiner wrote: > Regina, > > If it is any use, the whole transition business > gets better and easier; or soit did for me. Guest guest
Hi Regina, Of course how long the detoxification lasts depends on many factors: how toxic was your previous lifestyle? what is the quality of the food you're eating now? how good is your digestion (do you combine well etc.)? do you speed up detox by colonics, herbal colon cleanses, superfoods...? Etc. etc. But I remember that David Wolfe gave a general rule of thumb in his book 'The Sunfood Diet Success System', based on his experience in communicating with thousands of raw foodists, and that is: 1 month of detoxification per 1 year of eating cooked. Thus, after 30 years of cooked food eating, the detoxification period would last 30 months or 2 and a half years. I also think, based on my own experience, like Peter already wrote, that it gets better and easier with tim e. After a while you just get short periods of detox in between long periods of great vitality. Another thing in which I strongly believe is that detox goes a lot smoothier and faster if you are able to let go of the past on an emotional level. Look at all those toxins in your body as solidified past. Meditation is something that can help you very much in letting go and becoming less attached. The other way round, the raw food diet will also have as a result that you become more present in the now. So whatever you do, if you eat raw plant food, it's going to come alright eventually. Trust in the process and accept what it brings you... Wim (btw this was my first post on this newsgroup... a short introduction: I'm from Belgium, a small country with a small, but growing, raw food community, mostly grouped around an organisation that promotes this lifestyle + natural and healthy living in general. I am still relatively new on this path but have been reading a lot on natural hygiene and raw foods for years on the internet and in books from belgian and american authors.) - Regina DeLuca rawfood Wednesday, June 26, 2002 2:14 PM Re: [Raw Food] Raw I just want to know how long it takes for the detoxification to end from the onset of raw. Guest guest
Hi Wim, I do it all. Raw food, food combining, colon hydrotherapy, juicing, juice fasts, you name it. I think that's why I detox so well. I have a pretty sick body as well, so I figure it will be a while. I think the 1 month per year of eating cooked foods fits well. I'm guessing it will be another 1 1/2 years. I think you hit a soft spot when you mentioned letting go of emotional stuff. Spiritually, I feel great. I have solid Christian beliefs. I do have a great deal of stress in my life which can bring about emotional turmoil. I don't leave much time to meditate as I rise at 4:30am and go to bed at about 10pm everyday. I need to work on that. That could be something that's holding me back. Thanks.
