Guest guest
Could someone give me some ideas on how to wash the pesticides off of nonorganic produce when organic is not available? I'm currently using a vegetable scrubber for tougher produce, but how about berries and grapes? Any information would be highly appreciated. Guest guest
Why don't you try using a fruit and vegetable wash. It's like a very gentle soap for fruits and vegetables. I use a brand called Healthy Harvest and it comes in a spray bottle. You just spray, wipe or rub and rinse with water. You can get these in Health Food Stores. Roger P.S. Guest guest
Hi Susan, All: A procedure we have safely used for years with ourselves, children and grandchildren, is using a mild clorox solution in water and then a rinse. One capful of Clorox brand (sodium hypochlorite) in a sink full of water and soaking for approx. 10 minutes. Drain sink and then fill again with clean water and allow to soak in that another 10 minutes. Remove vegetables and dry before storing in refrigerator. It removes, pesticides, preservatives and herbicides very effectively. Remember only Clorox brand without whiteners, brighteners, etc. Hari Om Rob > Could someone give me some ideas on how to wash the pesticides off of > nonorganic produce when organic is not available? Guest guest
-I have heard that salt will do the same thing as the Clorox. I have tried the Clorox but have found that if I don't cut the grapes in half, that the Clorox gets into the grape and I can taste it when eating it afterwards. So I now cut the grapes in half before doing the Clorox soak. Washing with a veg. and fruit wash removes only the toxins from the outside of the food, not inside it. -- In rawfood, " RobGee " <robg33@c...> wrote: > Hi Susan, All: > A procedure we have safely used for years with ourselves, children and > grandchildren, is using a mild clorox solution in water and then a rinse. > One capful of Clorox brand (sodium hypochlorite) in a sink full of water and > soaking for approx. 10 minutes.
