I had a great idea. Why don't email the hippocrates institute. This is

a raw foods health center in West Palm Beach, Florida. These guys have

been around a long time and have seen it all. They welcome emails and

are very helpfull. If you took your husband there I am sure it would

cost a lot less than hip replacement. ask them to send you a Brochure.

I don?t know where you live but there are raw health centers all over

the country. Hippocrates Inst. is a full care facility. When they

answer your email they are very noncommittal they will say they have

helped people to heal themselves, or something like that. They have to

be very careful because of the AMA. So you may have to word your email

with the same care to get specific answers. You know there are still

people living in exile outside the U.S. for practicing alternative

medicine. In fact the guy who came up with interferon for treating

cancer is still living in exile somewhere in South America even though

American medicine is now using interferon in the treatment of cancer.

But that?s another story. Here is the link

Hi everyone. This is Bonnie. I'm getting all your e-mails so I thought I'd

say hello. I work at the Optimum Health Institute in San Diego, which is a raw

foods educational/self-healing center. Depending on where you live, it might be

a better alternative than Hippocrates in Fla., and much cheaper. You can check

out www.optimumhealth.org for more info. The site was being reconstructed, but

I believe it's up now.

Wow Bonnie; you work at OHI?? How great to have you here. Tell us

about Muhammed Ali. According to Just Eat An Apple magazine issue 17,

he checked in, and has gone RAW. Nature's First Law sent a secret

agent there to give him a raw zucchini and fruit pie; do you know any

of those guys? Tell us more about OHI.

I can't forget you. Here is the wonderful thing, I was thinking of you last

week and trying to remember your email address, I remembered it had skinny or

slim in it, with over 5,300 members I didn't know where to start. Maybe you

felt me calling you. You have my deppest sympathy, keep on making her recipes.

My Mom is in final stages of dementia and expexted to pass any moment. I go

everyday to give her fresh veggie juice I juice for her. Sometimes I feel so

sad when I return home, if I get her recipes out and make something it lifts my

spirits and makes me remember all the fun we had in the kitchen together. I

completely understand how those pies made you feel.

Re: Re:Jane Soup Nazi " s Indian Mulligatawany Soup

Thank you so much, Donna, for remembering me!

My mother was ill for a while and died two weeks ago, that took up my

time and emotions for many months. But I want to share, that my mother was a

baker of pies, cakes, bread, etc., and I spent many hrs watching her bake.

I loved it! The day my mother died, she was in NH and I'm in Va, I baked

two lemon meringue pies in her honor and it made me feel close to her.

Cooking is a wonderful outlet for so many things, isn't it?

Jane, would you mind posting one of your mother's

recipes for us?

I'm sure many of us would be happy to perpetuate her

kitchen legacy and think of her when we do.

Yes Cooking is comfort for many things and can bring back memories of those we

have had the pleasure of knowing and loving. I know when I make my Meato's

loaf, it makes me think of my parents and my dad's mother, who often made this,

though they used plain canned tomatoes instead of with jalopeno's or green

chilies in it. I like a bit of kick in mine.

I hope you have folks around you to comfort and love you extra, during this

grieving time. What would we do without them in our lives. It is such a

blessing to have learned such an important life skill(baking) from your mother,

that not only blesses you, but those you bake things for as well.
