Guest guest
Hi Folks, Roz Gruben started the talk. She spoke about air pollution and suggested that Spider Plants were very good at absorbing carbon monoxide. So she suggested you have some in your home to clean up the air and beautify your house. Another interesting point was on tobacco. If you can smell it, you are inhaling it or smoking. Rozy also mentioned that we should earn our meals. That she does a little exercise before her breakfast and lunch meals. She mentioned some kind of catchy phrase but I didn't get the whole thing. Huff and Puff, Pull and Push, and Stretching. Simple every day activities can turn into exercise or can be viewed as exercise. She also suggested that if you aren't urinating at least 6 times per day then you are probably dehydrated. Some signs of Dehydration are being weak, lethargic or having a headache. I have heard that if you have compression marks from your socks you are dehydrated. I've definitely noticed that I don't get those compression marks from wearing socks with a tight elastic band if I was properly hydrated that day. It really is quite amazing. You will burn fat in the absence of enough carbohydrates in the diet. This burning of fat produces ketones that takes your body a long time to get rid of. This was part of their argument as to why we should have such a high level of fruit in our diets. Remember they come at this from the perspective of training elite athletes. They do this to maximize performance. I've read similar information in other Sports Nutrition books. It's funny I've read the experts saying to make the body burn more fat and other experts to burn more carbs. They both say that their fuel is the most efficient. Except they both seem to agree that for something quick like sprinting you want to be burning glucose and not fat. The endurance experts sometimes seem to be in the fat corner. And yet I heard Morris Krok the 40 year raw foodist and author talk about his experiences with fat. Morris runs Marathons and UltraMarathons. For one of his marathons he ate a fat meal the night before. He had his worst performance ever. Normally he sticks much more to fruits and has a low fat diet. The plain fact of the matter is that most raw foodists eat an incredible amount of fat in their diets. I've spoken to many and have learned this for myself. I know I was eating a lot of fat. Excess fat does nothing but slow you down. Once I cut down to 10% or less fat per day and increased my fruit consumption I started feeling better and having more energy. Sometimes ridiculous amounts of energy that I needed to workout two times in the day just to feel satisfied. If you have excess fat in your bloodstream it creates a barrier or type of wall. This causes a need for insulin to be secreted from the Pancreas. With a low level of fat in the blood studies have shown that either no insulin or tiny amounts of insulin are needed to handle the sugar. Now if the Pancreas start to wear out from creating all this excess insulin then your Adrenals start to kick in. They will stimulate the Pancreas into releasing more insulin. Eventually the Adrenals get smaller and worn out as well. Our final line of defense to clear up the excess blood sugar is the yeast, Albicans candida or Candida for short. So when we get those symptoms of Candida and then want to kill off the yeast or bacteria we may be harming ourselves. I don't remember if he mentioned what would happen if the Candida wasn't there as a back up method. But it's probably not a good thing. I've also found that many raw foodists have this Candida problem. Another thing that I've found that helps is to eat your last meal of the day as early as possible. Dr. Cousens has found that all sorts of putrefaction develops if you are eating late at night because that time is not the ideal time of the day for digestion. Much may just be left to putrefy and therefore you generate a big build-up of toxins in your body. I'll have some more for you guys later. I have lots more notes. Roger Haeske P.S. Guest guest
If my fat intake goes as low as you mention, I get hypoglycemic. I've actually kicked my really awful case of Candidiasis with my raw food diet. The candida diets that are out on the market never worked and only clogged my system with too much meat protein. Fruit works against candida despite what the books tell us b/c it cleanses and heals the body. As long as you eliminate well with a raw food diet, it will wipe out candida. [RH] That's interesting Regina. In my situation, I thought myself to be hypoglycemic before I went 100% raw. Somehow eating lots of fruit took care of it for me. I also had Candida and lowering the fat content got rid of it for me. What people don't understand is that our bodies can only use simple sugars. If you eat a complex carbohydrate like a potato or bread it has to be broken down into a simple sugar to be used as fuel. So we are really using a simple sugar anyway. It just takes longer to be able to access it. I've actually kicked my really awful case of Candidiasis with my raw food diet. Guest guest
Dr. Gerson's program recommends a low fat diet. He has a his patient's juice 13 glasses/day though. Guest guest
Roger, The distinction between natural fruit sugar and processed sugar is a guiding line for eating fruit at all! Fruit is stacked with sugar which is central to most of society's diseases and the heart of our proper diet. Seemingly our bodies are at ease with fruit sugar unless the latter has been through a process. Cane put through the mill, sweeteners, etc., are bad news. In the whole debate, sugar, unless out of fresh fruit, sends the body into complex mode. The body asks. Use it? Store it? Or else... Long term or short term. i.e.. store it in the blood or churn it into fat. If unused stoke it in arteries or choke up some other kind of illness? Plus when this sugar/fat needs retrieving, the problems of ketones, and other exceptional needs are confronted. The trick is to get the sugar which is put in every day, out the following. Sans erudition, but with simplicity; sugar in fruit is our diet. Muck around within it at your peril. Eat as you need. [RH] Hi Regina, You'll definitely lose weight with the Superbeing Raw Diet. Of the many raw foodists I've met, at least 97% of them lost lots of weight while eating as much raw food as they wanted. Nevertheless, some people put on fat quite easily. They still have to watch their portions and definitely need to stay away from too much fat. But if you reduce the calories everyone will lose weight without exception. Have you ever seen anyone gain weight on a 10 day fast? Raw fats are much less dangerous and fattening than the cooked fats. But they are still dangerous if overeaten, even if raw. At one point I ate about 85% of my calories from raw fat and did not gain a single pound. When I switched temporarily to eating non-fatty foods I lost 8 pounds in 10 days. I must also say that for some reason I was also eating much fewer calories than when I was eating my high fat raw diet. I didn't need nearly as much fruit to sustain me as I thought I would. Now I've increased my fruit consumption about 50% to see if it might put a little more fat on me. I'm also doing some bodybuilding. I'm about 5% body fat and quite muscular, though I don't look big. But when I take off my shirt you see lots of well developed muscles. I can certainly help you Regina. In fact, I'm having a sale on my Raw Food Coaching Services. You can get a whole month of coaching via telephone and email or just email for 1/3 the normal price if you sign-up by Friday, December 20, 2002. I throw in some great bonuses as well for trying out my coaching. Please email me directly at roger if you want to know more of the details and all the benefits you would get. Guest guest
I actually have competed a number of times in bodybuilding competitions. I help people prepare for contests incorporating raw foods. This isn't to say I know everything. I'm always open to learning more. Let me look through your page and I'll let you know.
