Wow! That's EXACTLY how I feel. And I have a DW on the SAD diet. She really HATES when I decide to become healthy again, because it means I won't eat what she makes, we don't go out to eat, etc. It was getting bad.. I'll be raw for a while.. then I'll compromise and start eating cooked.. but then I'll swing so far the other way into cooked, that I'll never eat anything raw. I was feeling really bad, physically. No major health problems, but I'm overweight (38 years old, 6'2 1/2 " , 230 lbs.) and I just generally feel like crap. REALLY hard to get out of bed in the mornings, sluggish, heartburn (when I eat cooked, SAD). So, I decided on Sunday to go 1 week raw. I told my wife and I could swear she rolled her eyes, but she said she didn't. Today I made live dehydrated spiced almonds. I've been eating oranges, making carrot/apple juice, eating kale/avocado/endive salads. It's all easy enough until I start thinking about stuff I not necessarily want to eat right now, but if I continue, I'll " never be able to eat again. " Like dim sum, peking duck, sushi, etc. But then again, I don't miss overeating, burping, having heartburn. Yeah, it's only been 2 days, but I'm determined to at least make the next 5. I just have to keep reminding myself how good I feel, and allow myself to be supported here. --Art
Guest guest
38 is a great age to make the change over to going raw, if that is your age. The health bill from years of overloading the system comes in for most of us in our 50s. I suspect that the gut tires of taking on the digestion of meat and cooked food and such is often manifest in a " middle-aged spread " . Then comes the odd palpitation on the heart. As John Cleese said. " Have you had that little knock on the door from God. " As though hinting - Are you ready for the next world? Mend now and you may never even get that knock!
