Raw soy beans have this strange name like " etimome " ,

well, I'm sure that is wrong, but anyway, they sort of

look like peas in the pod.

What I have read about soy is, it is a highly

processed, really NOT healthy food. It also raises

estrogen levels in women, which is not good, at least

pre-menopause.

I have not heard about soy being a good source of

B-12.

I agree with Sally. Soy is non-edible in it's raw state, so don't try

that. I also have not heard of any vitamin B12 in soy. In fact, I've

read that B12 can only be found in animal derived products. If you

are worried and vegan, go with supplements.

I have heard that soy can suppress the thyroid. I am not sure if this

is true or not, but wanted to mention it. Our bodies can produce B12

in the intestines, if healthy and we don't need very much B12.

Hello! I'm new to the group, and new to rawfoods. I am following

Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live program, which concentrates on

raw foods, especially leafy greens.

I wanted to chime in on B-12 from soy. My understanding is that

the only soy products that would be sources of B-12 would be

fortified soy products like soy milk.

I'm looking forward to learning from this group. I just attended a

potluck held at a woman's house who teaches the Hallelujah

Diet (I think it's a raw foods diet, somehow biblical based?) and

was very happy to get good recipes to try.
