Guest guest
Mimi, I have not had an official diagnosis of candida, but I have so many of the symptoms, and a history of taking antibiotics for acne, that it is pretty much unmistakable. I don't think you need to have ALL of the symptoms to have it. Have you taken long-term antibiotics, any time in your life? Birth control pills? Do you drink chlorinated water? Any of these can cause it. Bloating and sugar cravings are definitely symptoms. I am also very prone to vaginal yeast infections, have periodic anal itching, am prone to depression and hypoglycemia, all also symptoms. It's fun. I've been fighting it all of my life, with varying success, but never LASTING success. I appreciate the input from people on this subject! Sally The New Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo http://search. Guest guest
Hi Sally Yeah candida seems to be a real curse these days and the symptoms cover just about everything. I'm suspecting it myself, my sister probably suffers from it... and so do many more I read and hear from. I've been doing heaps of reading about candida, some of it is pretty controversial (as is often the case when it comes to health and nutrition...). Anyways, diet is a major factor. You should drop all sugar, sweet fruit, white grains, yeasty foods, bread, etc etc. One controversial thing is fat: some say you should drop fats, too. Another thing are fermented foods: some say they make candida worse, others say they are good for the good bacteria in the stomach. Go figure. Luckily it's Spring and the sun is shining again (at least some days), David Wolfe writes about the benefits of sunbathing. And it does make sense, yeast cannot thrive in a sunny, light environment. I'm also taking probiotics, but I don't think that's sustainable in the long run. When have you experienced most success in your fight against candida? Guest guest
Candida thrives on carbs especially refined carbs, but you need some good fats, such as omega 3 from fish or flax and some mono unsaturated fats such as olive oil. Fermented foods like yogurt of sauerkraut are good but not fermented fruits or grains as these are sugar sources. Beware that Candida is a living organism and fights back attempts to eliminate it. That's why candida sufferers crave sweets. It's the Candida's hunger. And when confronted with diet changes the subject will often say, " Oh! I can't give up That! " . It's the Candida talking. Candida's worst enemy is acidophilus. Take a few capsules before each meal. rusty - " raw_peas " <no_reply > <rawfood > Monday, April 28, 2003 4:15 AM [Raw Food] Re: Candida > Hi Sally > > Yeah candida seems to be a real curse these days and the symptoms > cover just about everything.
