Guest guest
QUESTION: Has anyone else observed " spiritual/psychological/emotional " changes along this raw/live/vegan path? It's been a couple of weeks now on the increasingly raw/live foods. I'm only having one lightly cooked meal in the evening. That's probably more habit or insecurity than anything else. But I have noticed more changes... The smell of cooked wheat and cooked oats actually makes me nausious. That's always been a sign to me that somethin' ain't kosher. I have less and less of a taste for coffee. Now, I'm taking it more in a " medicinal " way. Methinks my coffee days are numbered. Also, my days of being calm and centered are growing in number and lasting longer. I have a VERY, VERY long history of depression and anxiety. This is abating in a VERY obvious way. My spiritual life is changing, too. All levels of my life have been chaotic and reactive in the past, and as they all become more calm, my spiritual life is far less " emotional " and more conscious of energy. For some reason, the other day, as Fred and I were talking about the way our eating lives are changing, I said - for no apparent reason - that this was all because we need to improve our " energy body. " I'm not even sure what that means. So, if somebody has some input on that, I'd appreciate it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that as the eating raw/live changes, the body changes; as the body changes, the mind becomes clear and calm, and the spirit also reaps the reward - however we want to define spirit. Thus my question up top - Has anyone experienced spiritual (psychological and emotional) changes on this diet (and I say " diet " as lifestyle)? Thanks, Rose

Guest guest
Hiya Rose, Hmmm. I can't really speak to the spiritual, but I can speak to some of the other things you mentioned. I attend women's pro basketball games this time of year, and was attending one the other day. Meeting some acquaintances in the hallway and stopping to chat, I was having a very hard time not walking away because the smell from the alcohol they were drinking was making me ill. Then, I got back to my seat and some people near me were eating something from one of the vendors - something with meat. It smelled disgusting! I consider this a good sign, that cooked food and other toxins smell bad to me, but it does make socializing difficult at times. Coffee. Ahhh coffee. I love coffee. I have not lost my taste for it, however, I have grown increasingly sensitive to caffeine and simply can't drink it much anymore. I have quit completely at times, but I love it so much, I don't stay completely quit. I wish it would become as sickening to me as alcohol and meat, then maybe I could! I do feel calmer as a raw fooder. I do get tired of trying to answer people's questions, though. It's ok if they are genuinely interested and truly want to know, but a lot of times it seems like people ask questions for the sole purpose of arguing with me. Then I don't feel very spiritual. :-( Sally Calendar - Free online calendar with sync to Outlook. http://calendar.
Guest guest
There is a widespread consensus in this direction. Certainly craving and nervous behaviour go down With some exercise the depression factor will also reduce. In fact I suspect that without these and many other factors, this forum would be much smaller Peter Rose and Fred Lieberman [pyrite] 07 June 2003 18:16 rawfood [Raw Food] More changes seen...
