If there is any dairy in his diet, consider removing it. Look at this

site for info on dairy and ADHD: http://www.notmilk.com

I have noticed in the past few days that he is drinking milk by the

proverbial gallons. Add to this the fact that I caught myself thinking that he

is

acting " dumber " than usual and you make a good point. I will check out the

site.

Thank you.

The milk drinker - like most of us in the animal kingdom - could be

exhibiting a need for a certain mineral. In this case, calcium. Although

his body is telling him he needs calcium, the only thing around is the milk.

Just a thought...

When animals are given a free choice of minerals, they will only go to the

mineral they need at the time. They do it in the wild all the time.

Of course, in the case of your milk-drinker, the milk could end up causing

other problems.

ADHD is a " cerebral allergy " . The nervous system is where learning and

behavior happen. So, if something is taken into the body that causes an

allergic reaction within the brain and/or nervous system, it will affect the

functions of that system - in this case, learning and behavior. My husband

has been a consultant and practitioner in this area for the past few years,

and you would be amazed at the things he discovers.

Diet, Diet Diet!

Often ADD kids have allergies, or food sensitivities. I cut Wheat/gluten, corn, and dairy for sure and see how that affects him. Also a big issue are artificial flavors, preservatives, colors, etc in food. So cut the junk food and read labels very closely. MSG is bad too (mono sodium glutamate). A healthy diet including lots of fruits and vegetables will do wonders!

On Behalf Of starlightearthchildSunday, January 01, 2006 3:07 PM Subject: adhdDoes anyone have experience treating ADHD-the innattentive type? Mysix year old has been diagnosed by two different doctors and so I'vetried a natural remedy recommended by an aromatherapist and it didnothing. Treatment consisted of five Bach Flower remedies-vervain,white chestnut, clematis, chestbut bud, impatiens. I also used romanchamomile and lavender oils on the hands and chest. Plan b was neuraldepolarization with an organic vegetarian diet. That did nothing. Itried mineral supplements combined with reflexology-nada. He is alsodevelopmentally delayed. Any suggestions?Tina DavisCertified Reflexologist

Hi and Tina:

I'm a psychologist and I provide evaluations for children with adhd.

Sometime ago, Sunyatta Amen mentioned the Feingold Diet. That

set off a whole adventure for me which I have passed onto others.

You can go to www.feingold.org, I believe and find information there, but

you are probably addressing all of this with his organic diet. Also, it

has been found that eliminating wheat (gluten), and casein (dairy) is helpful.

There is a process called self-monitoring that is helpful in providing

kids with adhd tools to get back on track. You can begin with setting an

alarm for 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes (start where he can have

success). At the end of the time ask him if he has been paying attention.

He should write yes or no. The goal is for him to learn to ask himself the

question, rather

than for him to say he is always paying attention. I have a form I found that

is helpful that I could send to you. You can e-mail me your address at

arcadiapress

and I will send the form to you..... There is also a book written by

a 12 year old boy that has great recipes without wheat, and diary for

kids who have adhd...I can send you the name of ....Blessings, Ashtarra

How long did you try the organic vegetarian diet? Our 5 year

old had to be on a vegan diet for several months before we saw a

noticeable improvement in her behavior and health etc..
