Guest guest
Someone once said that in an insane world. The sane appear insane. We live in a world where almost everyone is a cooked food addict. We are made to feel like the odd ones. We are the extremists. When I saw cooked food as an addiction I began to really understand what kind of world I live in. Why society is so screwed up. Why there is so much violence, murder, rape. We are living in a world of addicts. I see cooking ranges, pots and pans, barbeque grills, in fact most of the equipment in kitchens. As paraphernalia. I watch people preparing food and it reminds me of a heroin addict with a rubber strap around his arm heating his heroin in a spoon. The association we have in our minds to the word addict, is what makes it so hard to see that we are addicts. in 12 steps to raw foods the first step is to admit we are addicts. " I admit that I have lost control of my addiction to cooked food and my eating is becoming unmanageable. " Admitting we are addicts brings up all kind of images of dirty weak people doing illegal things in dark filthy places. Its not a pretty picture. Here is Victoria's questionnaire. 1. If you are not hungry, but someone offers you your favorite delicious food, do you accept the offer? 2. If you know that it is not good to eat before bedtime, but there is some delicious food on the table, do you eat it? 3. If you are feeling stressed, do you eat more food than usual? 4. do you continue eating until your stomach feels completely full? 5. do you eat when you are bored? 6. do you notice restaurant signs even when you are not hungry? 7. if you are made an offer for a free dinner, do you always accept the offer? 8. at all-you-can-eat restaurants, do you usually overeat? 9. have you ever broken a promise to yourself not to eat before bedtime? 10. would you spend the last $10 in your pocket on your favorite food? 11. do you reward yourself with food for accomplishing achievements? 12. do you eat extra food rather than letting it go to waste? 13. if you know that eating a certain food that you really enjoy will make you feel ill later, do you still eat it? If you answer yes to three or more of these questions, then you may have a cooked food dependency. If you begin to see cooked food as addiction, here is something strange to do. Watch a cooking show on TV. You will see it with new eyes. Doug

Guest guest
Hurray! (applause) Orionsdad! The pro-meat posts were disruptive and distasteful on this meeting of raw-veggie minds. Arguments are ordinarily acceptable when kept on a low key and appropriate to the general consensus but a completely polarized stance brings the entire discussion to a standstill and becomes disruptive to the point of nonproductivity. Glad to be here.......Betsy Doug wrote: - " kauguy " <no_reply > <rawfood > Monday, July 07, 2003 9:40 PM Re: [Raw Food] more cooked addiction > Lets all re read message #4143 by Orionsdad (below) you see, > Orionsdad is the founder of this group, and has the ability to turn > him off with his big magic key.
