Marcy,

I'll start with losing 20lbs. If you saw me you would say that the good

doctor has taken on mission impossible in my case. Please let me know if

the other is also a must read.

I read Joel Fuhrman's book, Eat to Live, and I would not say that

he " incorporates meat into his health plan. " He just does not say that

people have to be absolutely vegan to be healthy. He stresses the

importance of what you DO eat, rather than what you DON'T eat.

The diet he recommends is made up of predominantly healthy vegan

foods. He just is not willing to say that, for health reasons, you can

NEVER eat animal products.

The message I got from his book was that the more nutrient rich vegan

foods I ate, the better off I'd be. (Since I read Eat to Live, I have

eaten a lot more romaine lettuce and other leafy greens.)

Joel Fuhrman is addressing the health of the body. There are many

other issues about being totally vegan that address the health of our

hearts and spirits. To me, those are even more important. But if a

person is looking at vegetarianism solely for health reasons, I think

Joel Fuhrman's book could be very helpful.
